Autumn has arrived

One of the wonders of living in the UK is that the seasons are so prominent. I run through the woods and everyday I notice nature's tiny changes. At the moment the fungi and the berries are providing some stunningly bright highlights dotted among the greens and browns.

Come up smelling of roses

We went for a long walk around Harleston in the Waveney Valley on the weekend and
chanced upon an open day at a rose nursery.
Acre upon acre of roses scented the air with their subtle perfume.

Gingerbread Christmas

I have had an industrious afternoon making gingerbread for my students.
In gingerbread, as in life, they come in all shapes and sizes.

A warm day in October is like a free lunch and everyone was making the most of it. The early morning coastal mist lifted so we went to Aldeburgh for a swim in the sea and ice-cream. There'll be snow before the month's out.

The stump used to be on dry land. We haven't visited this windswept disappearing corner of Suffolk for many years. The pigs have been moved back from the cliff and we kept our distance too.

T'was the morning before Christmas and the east facing windows became pictures in themselves.
